APRIL LEE TERRELL

Educator. Author. Public Speaker. Consultant.

In The Beginning

April Lee Terrell is a self-published author of the Sidney Saidso series, partner of The American Mom blog, and the founder of Authentic U, an educational consulting firm that specializes in helping adults shape the future by learning to lead authentically, with empathy, and kindness.

April spent ten years’ in Baltimore City Public School System as an Early Childhood Educator and Administrator.  As an Administrator in City Schools, April was an instructional leader of an Early Learning Center; coached teachers and created professional development in all content areas with a focus on Common Core State Standards, high yield instructional strategies, pedagogy, and culturally responsive education. Moreover, April spearheaded the construction of a homegrown Early Childhood curriculum for the school district.

The Bigger Picture

Currently, April is a consultant for Ramapo for Children, The Center for the Promotion of Social Emotional Learning, The School Climate and Culture Initiative, Mortiz Consulting, Just Educators,  and a National Trainer for the I Can Problem Solve interpersonal cognitive development program. She is dedicated to supporting the advancement of social and emotional learning, character development, social justice advocacy, and antiracism education to curate positive culture in the school, work, and home setting.

April received a BA in Communications from the University of Maryland at College Park, and a Masters degree in Teaching from The Johns Hopkins University, and a Certificate in Organizational Change from Towson University.
